It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Camille V. Layne,
MPH, RHIA. Camille was a devoted member of HIMANYC for many years and served
the organization in various capacities including President of the organization.
She served as the Director of Health information Technology, CUNY, Borough of
Manhattan Community College for a number of years. Students under her tutelage
were inspired by her commitment to HIMANYC to become members of this
organization. Camille was a mentor to many and a model of professionalism.
Certainly, our profession, as well as the world of Academia, will miss her
dedication to the tenets of Health Information Management.
Jackie Robinson once said,” A life is not important except for the impact it has
on other lives.” If this be true, then Camille has certainly made her mark.
The memorial will be held at the
Abyssinian Baptist Church, Tuesday, December
29, 2009, 6:00 pm. There will be a repast (reception) following the memorial.
The location will be posted when it becomes available.
